Michael B. Jordan is thrilled to start filming the I am Legend sequel with Will Smith, who just finished his acting debut in Bad Boys: Ride or Die. The Creed star gave updates about the movie and expressed the desire for this opportunity while speaking to People. He also revealed that the I Am Legend 2 script is underway and is in progress to date.
“We’re still working on the script and getting that up to par,” he stated. “It doesn’t have a release date or anything like that. I’m not sure exactly where we’re going to be filming that one, but I’m really excited to get in front of the camera with him [Smith].”
The actor also mentioned that Will Smith is someone he’s “looked up to for a very long time.”
I Am Legend 2 was announced in March 2022. The film is based on scientist Robert Neville, one of the last survivors since the disease outbreak. This deadly disease turns humans into zombie-like creatures. the original story is from Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel, which carries the same name.
Smith spoke about the film back in December 2023 at the third Red Sea International Film Festival, giving viewers answers to what happened to his character in the end of I Am Legend. During that time, DVDs were very popular and high demand. There was an alternate ending as his character actually survives, which led them to the sequel.
There’s no release date yet, but I Am Legend 2 should be a good one.
I Am Legend premiered in theaters in 2007, amassing $585.4 million at the box office.
