The first teaser trailer for the animated series for Everybody Hates Chris’ revival has arrived. Officially titled Everybody Still Hates Chris, Comedy Centrals’ new show will focus on the Johnson family as they navigate through life’s ups and downs.
“The revival will once again feature Chris Rock’s Adult Chris narrating stories inspired by his experience growing up as a skinny nerd in a large working-class family in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, during the late 1980s,” the synopsis reads.
The show’s revamp is a result of its continued popularity and relevance. The original show resonated with audiences due to its relatable and humorous portrayal of family life.
The revival is a treat for fans as Terry Crews and Tichinia Arnold are back, reprising their respective roles as Chris’ parents, Julius and Rochelle. The voice cast also includes Tim Johnson Jr. as young Chris, Ozioma Akagha as Chris’ sister Tonya, Terrence Little Gardenhigh as Chris’ brother Drew, and Gunnar Sizemore as Chris’ only friend Greg.
Everybody Still Hates Chris is executive-produced by Rock and showrunner Sanjay Shah. Ali LeRoi, Michael Rotenberg, Dave Becky, Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina serve as the show’s producers. Meanwhile, Titmouse serves as the animation studio for the series.
Everybody Hates Chris first aired on UPN in 2005. The show explored comedian Chris Rock’s teenage years and his family as he dealt with a series of misadventures. After running for four successful seasons, the show ended in 2009 due to declining ratings and a time slot change.
