As the Street Fighter movie gets closer to its release, the marketing team has some tricks up their sleeves.
So far, the movie has had plenty of attention-grabbing marketing. One example is a billboard that was designed to look “damaged” Now, DiscussingFilm has reported on something even crazier. A giant gaming console has been set up in the middle of Times Square.
Inside the console, stunt performers were showing off exciting moves inspired by Ken and Ryu while people nearby pressed its oversized buttons.
Fans have been shocked by the marketing tactic. One fan replied, “Did they get the marketing budget from the mafia. How are they doing so many elaborate things?”
Another fan commented, “This marketing is absolutely unhinged. Setting up a live-action arcade machine in the middle of Times Square is pure genius.”
The two previous Street Fighter films received plenty of criticism from fans and moviegoers alike. If the new movie turns out to be good, it could bring a lot of new players into the combat game realm. As of right now, there’s no news on the marketing budget for the film.

The last two Street Fighter movies had a very small production budget. The 1994 movie had a $35 million budget, while the 2009 Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li spin-off had a $50 million budget.
“Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu and Ken Masters are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury,” the official synopsis reads. “But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!”
