The reviews for Smile 2, released in theaters today, have led movie and TV critic websites like Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic to give it encouraging scores. According to Coming Soon, Rotten Tomatoes gave the horror flick a solid 82% rating as of this writing. The contributors went on to applaud Naomi Scott‘s role as Skye Riley, a pop star who ends up experiencing supernatural events. Meanwhile, Metacritic stamped Smile 2 with a 66 score. Considering their 30 critic assessment, the score seemingly fits the criteria.
Smile 2 stars Scott, Rosemarie DeWitt as Elizabeth Riley, Skye’s mother and manager, and Miles Gutierrez-Riley as Joshua, their assistant. The cast also includes Dylan Gelula as Gemma, Skye’s estranged best friend, and Raúl Castillo portrays Darius Bravo, the head of Skye’s record company. The movie focuses on pop sensation Skye Riley as she goes through a series of terrifying yet supernatural experiences.
The first movie, Smile, stars Kyle Gallner, Caitlin Stasey, Kal Penn, and Judy Reyes. Additionally, the horror flick is the feature-length directorial debut of Parker Finn. In the box office, Smile amassed $217 million.
