Warner Bros is releasing films in quick succession, launching a new entry in the It franchise.
The latest release It: Welcome to Derry, serves as a spin-off to a horror movie that many are familiar with. The show’s exclusive trailer gives It fanatics a glimpse of what to expect, including images of the terrifying monster lurking in the sewers—Pennywise the Clown.
Although details about the new show are still limited, here’s what we currently know. Andy Muschietti is on board as the creative director and is developing both series in collaboration with Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. He will direct four episodes of the nine-episode series.
Andy and Barbara Muschietti will also serve as executive producers for the film, along with Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, Skarsgård, David Coatsworth, Roy Lee, Shelley Meals, and Dan Lin. Fuchs and Kane will act as co-showrunners.
The cast includes Taylour Paige, Chris Chalk, Stephen Rider, Rudy Mancuso, James Remar, Madeleine Stowe, and Bill Skarsgård, who will reprise his iconic role as Pennywise from the previous films. This isn’t surprising, as Skarsgård truly immerses himself in the character.
Although a specific release date has not been confirmed, It: Welcome to Derry is predicted to debut on HBO in 2025. It is currently available for subscribers to stream on Apple TV+. It Chapter Two can also be rented on various platforms, including Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, and others.
