The next chapter in the Scream franchise is full of surprises. From the cast list to the storyline, fans are on the edge of their seats for the seventh installment. While it’s safe to assume that Ghostface will once again terrorize victims in true slasher fashion, the real mystery lies in what’s in store for Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell. After being MIA from Scream 6, Sidney is returning to the big screen. In a shocking twist, David Arquette is also reprising his role as Dewey Riley, despite his severe death in Scream 5. Matthew Lillard is set to replay Stu Macher as well. Although Wes Craven had confirmed Stu’s death, it was never shown on screen.

For those who aren’t aware, Dewey Riley gets tricked into his demise after defending Tara Carpenter at the hospital. Although he initially has the upper hand over Ghostface, his decision to finish the job doesn’t end well. The attacker, who’s revealed to be Amber Freeman, stabs him repeatedly in the stomach and back before delivering a final, fatal slash. To make things even more intriguing, Scott Foley’s Roman Bridger is also making a comeback. In Scream 3, he was discovered to be Ghostface.
The film’s development began in August 2023 but was halted due to industry strikes and casting changes. The situation became even more uncertain when director Christopher Landon stepped down in December 2023. Fortunately, original Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson made the decision to take over as director. The filming is currently continuing in Atlanta.
The cast includes stellar actors like Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, Matthew Lillard as Stu Macher, Scott Foley as Roman Bridger, David Arquette as Dewey Riley, Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin, and Jasmin Savoy-Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin. There will also be fresh faces in the Scream series: Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, McKenna Grace, Mark Consuelos, Sam Rechner, Anna Camp, and Joel McHale.

The plot in Scream 7 will explore Sidney Prescott’s life, similar to Jamie Lee Curtis’ character in the 2018 Halloween film.
