The talks around the character “Baby Joey” in the upcoming Superman movie has finally been revealed. Set to premiere in theaters on July 11, 2025, Superman is written and directed by James Gunn. It stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
Although Baby Joey hasn’t shown up in any of the trailers, the franchise has hinted at the character’s presence. Fans speculated that he might be the son of Metamorpho, who is mentioned in a children’s book tied to the movie. The book, Superman’s Friends and Foes, reveals Baby Joey is the toddler son of Metamorpho, who is played by Anthony Carrigan. The book also mentions another storyline: when Joey gets taken, Metamorpho must decide whether to team up with Superman or Lex Luthor.

While Metamorpho appears in the film, trailers show him imprisoned instead of united with the Justice Gang. Superman eventually ends up in the same prison.
According to the official synopsis, this is the first DC Studios movie in the new DC Universe. Gunn brings his signature mix of action, humor, and heart to the story, presenting a Superman who believes deeply in human goodness.
The cast also includes Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, and more.
