With four successful seasons, Growing Up Hip Hop has decided to introduce a new location to their series – New York City.
Starting off in 2016, the show circulates around the children of legendary Hip Hop artist. It highlights the hustle, the grind and the persistence they have as the try to step out of their parents shadow and make a name for themselves.
Celebrities such as Rev Run’s Family Angela and Vanessa Simmons were a few of the original cast members of the show. In addition to Romeo Miller (Master P’s son), Damon “Boogie” Dash’s (Damon Dash’s son), Briana Latrise (Mary J. Blige’s stepdaughter) , Kristinia DeBarge (James DeBarge’s daughter), Kyndall Ferguson (El DeBarge’s daughter), Tyran Moore (Sandra “Pepa” Denton’s son), and Egypt Criss (Pepa Denton’s daughter).
Atlanta, being the next location, consisted of Bow Wow and his then-girlfriend Kiyomi, Waka Flocka Flame (son of Debra Antney) and his wife Tammy Rivera, rapper DaBrat, R. Kelly’s ex-wife Andrea “Drea” Kelly, her three children Buku, Kyd, Jaah and more.
Naming such strong lineups, WEtv still managed to top their cast lists with a couple of heavy hitters from NY. According to MonstersandCritics :
The well-off and well-connected cast for the season will include rap star Ja Rule and progeny Jeff Bruce Atkins Jr. and Brittney Atkins;Murder Inc. mogul Irv Gotti and children, Angie Pearson and Jonathan “JJ” Wilson Lorenzo; Fat Joe with son Ryan Cartagena; infamous rapper and side chick Charli Baltimore and daughter DJ Siaani; Young Dirty Bastard, son of the late Old Dirty Bastard; Flavor Flav’s daughter, Da’Zyna; JoJo Simmons, son of legendary rap pioneer Rev. Run; rapper and actress Lil’ Mama and her brother Arnstar; and DJ Kid Capri with daughter Vina Love.
