A new movie based on the Archie comic books has been greenlit by Universal Pictures. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the untitled movie is being penned by comic book writer Tom King, the mastermind behind Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Meanwhile, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have helmed the film.
“We are longtime fans of Archie, Veronica, Betty, and the gang in all of their iterations. When we heard Tom King’s take on the classic material, we instantly thought it made sense as an event movie for all audiences, both lifelong fans and a whole new generation,” they stated. “We’re so excited to bring these beloved characters to the big screen.”

Archie Comics CEO and publisher Jon Goldwater, on the other hand, will produce the movie alongside Emma Watts.
The 85-year-old comic book series Archie Comics has sold over three billion comics worldwide and remains a must-have at various grocery stores. The Archie gang debuted in 1941’s Pep Comics No. 22.
