As excitement builds for Zootopia 2, co-director Jared Bush has recently cleared up a big fan theory about the movie’s villain.
For a while now, fans online have been guessing that the main villain might be Nick Wilde’s father. This theory came from a scene in the teaser trailer where Nick and Judy Hopps run into a scary, hooded figure with glowing eyes. Some people thought this mysterious character looked a lot like Nick, and guessed it could be his dad, possibly the bad guy of the movie.

But Jared Bush recently jumped on X, formerly known as Twitter, to chat with fans. During a Q&A, someone asked about Nick’s family. Bush responded by saying, “Nick’s family is not explored in this film.” In other words, Nick’s dad won’t be in the sequel and definitely won’t be the villain. Since the first Zootopia had a surprising twist about who the bad guy was, it’s possible the sequel will keep us guessing too.
Directed and written by Jared Bush, this new mystery involves a strange snake that appears unexpectedly in Zootopia. Nick is suspicious, pointing out that no snake has been seen in the city in a long time. But the snake, voiced by Ke Huy Quan, claims he’s just trying to help his family.
Alongside Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, and Idris Elba, other returning voice actors include Bonnie Hunt, Don Lake, Nate Torrence, Jenny Slate, Alan Tudyk, Josh Dallas, and more.
