Several Zorro-inspired movies and a new TV series are currently in development. According to Coming Soon, there are five Zorro films in the works, including a crossover with Django from Django Unchained, an animated movie from Sony Pictures Animation, a live-action/CGI hybrid film, Robert Rodriguez‘s Lady Zorro movie, and another female-led Zorro project.
One of the most talked-about topics is the long-discussed Django/Zorro crossover, which is still moving forward. Rodriguez’s Lady Zorro project, initially a TV series, has now been adapted into a movie that will premiere on an unannounced streaming platform.

Sony Pictures Animation is developing an animated Zorro film, which will be directed by Manny Hernandez and produced by Will Gluck, who worked on the Peter Rabbit movies. Meanwhile, Sony is also developing a live-action/CGI hybrid film written by David Birnbaum. In that movie, Zorro will team up with a CGI fox sidekick, voiced by Eugenio Derbez.
Details about the second female-led Zorro film remain under wraps, though it is expected to be announced in partnership with a major streaming service. The upcoming TV series will be based on Isabel Allende‘s 2005 novel Zorro and will tell the origin story of Don Diego de la Vega, the legendary masked hero.
Zorro has remained a popular character for more than a century, appearing in a series of movies, television shows, and other adaptations. The newest Zorro project to reach audiences is a French TV series starring Jean Dujardin, which is set to premiere in the United States later this June on MHz Choice.
