Amy Pascal has confirmed that a new Venom movie is in the works, except this time it’ll be animated. She spoke about this on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, confirming earlier reports that first appeared in February.
The animated movie will be directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the directors of the 2025 horror hit Final Destination: Bloodlines. Pascal will produce the film along with veteran Venom producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach.
Tom Hardy is expected to work on the project as well, but it’s undetermined if he’ll return as the voice of Eddie Brock and Venom or only work as a producer. Kelly Marcel, who wrote all three live-action Venom films and directed Venom: The Last Dance, will also produce the movie but will not write the script. No release date or cast has been announced yet, and Spider-Verse creators Phil Lord and Chris Miller are not involved.

Because Venom remains a popular character, Sony decided to keep the franchise going, unlike other spin-offs such as Morbius and Madame Web, which performed poorly at the box office.
Sony’s move toward animation follows the massive success of the Spider-Verse films. With Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse planned for 2027, the studio seems to believe animation is a stronger direction for its Marvel characters than recent live-action spin-offs. The Venom movies have earned less money with each new release. The final film, Venom: The Last Dance, made $478.9 million worldwide in 2024, the lowest of the trilogy, although it still made a profit.
