Wonder Woman is soaring to the big screen as part of the new DC Universe. Except this time, Lanterns writer Tom King won’t be involved. Gal Gadot will also not be reprising her role as Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman. Instead, a new actress will be taking on the role as the iconic superhero.
During an interview, he was asked if he was taking part in the project. King said, “I’m not involved in Wonder Woman except to say I hope it’s going to be utterly brilliant. I hope the people who are building it stay true to who that character is, because she’s just one of the greatest heroines ever created.”
He was originally part of the group of writers helping plan the new DC Universe. Later in his career, he worked on Lanterns and is now developing the animated Mister Miracle series.

James Gunn announced the new Wonder Woman movie in June 2025. Ana Nogueira was later announced as the writer. At the moment, she’s working on Supergirl and a Teen Titans movie.
In July 2025, a report claimed the studio was “fast-tracking” the Wonder Woman movie. Gunn responded by saying, “It’s a priority, but I wouldn’t call that fast-tracked. Nothing is going to be shot unless we’re as sure as we can be that the script is good.”
Since then, there have been no major updates. Several actresses have been rumored for the role, but Gunn has said casting has not started.
One rumor says Adria Arjona could play Wonder Woman in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow, but DC Studios has not confirmed her role.
The DCU is also developing Paradise Lost, a prequel series about Themyscira before Diana was born. However, the project is currently on hold.
Entertainment Weekly reported that “though we’re told it could still see the light of day in the future.”
For now, Wonder Woman has only appeared briefly in the DCU through the animated series Creature Commandos. She was shown in a vision of the future where Princess Ilana Rostovic wins.
