Jennifer Lawrence is set to star in Zach Cregger‘s new sci-fi thriller, The Flood. Even though her role is unknown, Cregger has expressed his excitement about working alongside The Hunger Games star. In his very own words, Lawrence is one of a kind. Production is expected to begin in February. Meanwhile, the filming process is scheduled for next summer. If all the proper steps are done in a timely fashion, filming could begin in summer 2027.
Although the plot details are still a mystery, Cregger has dropped hints about its creative direction, describing it as “his most disturbing film yet.” He’s also revealed that The Flood will take place in outer space.
The idea for the movie came together when Cregger was given a small timeframe to come up with a project to potentially work on with Steven Spielberg. While watching a sci-fi movie with his wife, he saw a character enter an abandoned spaceship. His wife said to him that there was nothing scarier than being trapped in space. As a result, it got Cregger thinking about what could be even more frightening. He said the entire idea for The Flood suddenly came to him, and he quickly imagined the movie from beginning to end.
Cregger is widely known for his work on Barbarian, Weapons, and the recent Resident Evil movie.
