Netflix has set a precedent for the run that most of the shows on the streaming service will have. Dear White People making it to a fourth and final season is quite impressive in my book. The show that was originally the same-titled 2014 Independent film, surpassed expectations allowing you to obtain more depth for each of the characters. Season 4 will be titled the “4th & Final Volume” will have 10 episodes that wrap up the stories for the characters that we know and love.
Creator Justin Simien had this to say about the unfortunate end to the series, “I’m so grateful my little indie-that-could has made it to four seasons at Netflix! This show, along with the many talented storytellers it has brought into my orbit, has changed my life and I can’t wait to create a celebratory final volume befitting such a transformative experience.”
The show has black students who attend an Ivy league school deal with the racist situations that arise while attending said predominately white school, having a series of trials and tribulations that occur that they deal with throughout the series. As of now, no word on when Season 4 will be available on Netflix, but it should be sometime next year.
