Lauryn Hill, formerly of the 90s hip-hop group The Fugees, released her last single “Black Rage (Sketch)” in 2014. The track was dedicated to activists in Ferguson, Missouri fighting for racial equality after the killing of Michael Brown. At the end of August 2019, Hill made her official return to the music scene with a guest feature on Pusha T’s new track, “Coming Home,” produced by Kanye West. And now, Hill is planning to release her first solo song after five years.
The song is set to be a part of the soundtrack to Melina Matsoukas and Lena Waithe’s new Bonnie and Clyde-inspired film Queen & Slim, which will also feature music from Vince Staples, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, and more, according to Pitchfork. Queen & Slim: The Soundtrack will be released on November 15 via Motown Records.
