Recently, word surfaced that “Paper Planes” rapper, M.I.A is officially on Patreon!
Taking her announcement to Instagram, M.I.A posted a video clip, in which she’s dripped out in pink attire, minus her scarf. From the looks of it, M.I.A is rocking a pink wig as well.
As the tape rolls, M.I.A introduces herself, and follows with, “welcome to my Patreon channel.” Then, the video transitions to, what seems to be, an old take of M.I.A sitting on a couch with red, circle pillows.
Shortly after, viewers can see M.I.A squatting near a lake, “The vision for Patreon is that this year I’m going to be going on a journey, and I wanted you guys to come with me,” she says. The video clip also provides a take of M.I.A being her authentic self. In a recording session, engaging with fans, and spending time with loved ones.
Although M.I.A has no set concept for Patreon, she explains that she would like to free-fall into ideas, “I also want to make this fun and random: It might be ASMR Sri Lankan cooking, or I might go and stay in a silent Ashram in India for a month and just not speak, or I want to interview interesting people, do some reporting, make clothes, make paintings, just see where it takes me.”
She plans on using the subscription money to contribute to schools, projects, and other buildings that’ll help upcoming artists (or people in general).
