Yesterday, the NAACP announced that female business and music mogul, Rihanna will receive the President’s Award at the 51st annual NAACP Imagery Awards. This prestigious award is solely given to those “in recognition of special achievement and distinguished public service.” And given what she’s been checking off her list recently, this award is well-deserved. Notable accomplishments include being dubbed as the world’s wealthiest female musician by Forbes (2019) and garnering success from her lingerie line, Savage X Fenty.
“Rihanna has not only enjoyed a groundbreaking career as an artist and musician, but has also distinguished herself as a stellar public servant,” said Derrick Johnson, President and CEO of the NAACP. “From her business achievements through Fenty, to her tremendous record as an activist and philanthropist, Rihanna epitomizes the type of character, grace, and devotion to justice that we seek to highlight in our President’s Award.”
Johnson will be giving Rihanna this award on February 22nd, 2020. The ceremony will be broadcasted live on BET.
