Following the release of his 13th album, Funeral last Friday (January 31st, 2020), hip-hop veteran, Lil Wayne made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon yesterday. During his time on the show, he not went in-depth about his 24-track effort, but he also performed one of the tracks off it titled “Dreams.”
Assisted by The Roots on instrumentation and back vocals, Weezy F. Baby tapped into his melodic cadence, dripped out with shades and a fur coat.
Ironically, Wayne added the word ‘dream’ in a previous song back in 2015 called “Dreams And Nightmares.”
When asked about the meaning behind “Dream,” Lil Wayne said: “It reflects on a nightmare I had about being broke. When I sang that hook, I was like, ‘Okay, I got it.’ You know me, I’m a subject guy. You give me a subject, thank god I’m very creative with my words and I have a pleasant personality, so I can stick to that subject really well and make something out of it. I’ve always been that guy.”
