As a blood-curdling shriek lets out, Wild N’ Out‘s Justina Valentine takes the time to forewarn opps, fugazis, and cyberbullies in her latest single, “Just Spit It.” Without missing a beat, Valentine tells off the people who act “all big and bad” on and offline. Using a cadence reminiscent to Eminem‘s in Boogie‘s “Rainy Days” and cleverly humorous punchlines, Valentine unveils that she’s really fed up. Elsewhere in the song, Valentine also assures those who talk sideways that her dogs from her home state, New Jersey are all bark AND bite. If she needs to call on them, they’ll have her back and fight till the death (shoutout to Jersey!) Still, Valentine prays for her haters and says amen to the opps. She understands that envy comes with being in the business and is forever humbled.
Sonically, “Just Spit It” draws from sporadic hi-hats, booming 808’s and Japanese-ridden synths. One notable punchline from “Just Spit It” goes: “I’m goin’ vegan/Please do not give me a reason to beef/You corn on the cob/Hoe, you a low hangin’ fruit/No one checkin’ for you/I’m the creme de la creme of the crop.”
Valentine’s latest single follows her 2019 11-track effort, Favorite Vibe.
