The Feature Presentation‘s very own, Chanti McCoy delivers verses with pure ferocity in her new single, “Ryda.” And as her bio suggests, she’s “definitely unafraid to speak what’s on her mind.” Chanti is her first name, but McCoy was added onto her moniker because of its definition. According to the dictionary, “McCoy” means the real thing; the genuine article. “That’s what I am,” she continues “I’m just real, no gimmicks.”
On “Ryda,” McCoy lets it be known that she’s a woman of luxury. Her accomplishments stem from working around the clock, and in like manner, she expects the same from her cinnamon apple. “‘Ryda’ is just a vibe and street record, but party anthem for the ladies to talk their shit. It lets men know to come correct,” she adds.
As the track moves forward, McCoy becomes more ruthless in her verses. Between lyrics, the “Slay” spitter also calls out females who put on a front. She goes so far as to make light of the situation by cracking jokes about those who do absurd things for attention.
Conclusively, there’s no denying that McCoy possesses a kind of confidence that’s admirable to all females across the globe. Her self-assurance can be deciphered through these bars, “I’m a boss ass bitch. PERIOD. You can never flex how I flex, you delirious.” According to her, strength is a woman’s most potent asset, “A man could never handle the pain a woman goes through.” she adds
The beat resonates with Tupac’s “Ambitionz Az A Ridah,” yet carries more oomph in its snares and kick-drums. Since the rap icon happens to be her favorite rapper, Great John decided he’d add some changes to the original beat. “[Great John] works on most of my music and knows that I like Tupac. Over time, he made the beat and surprised me with it, and I loved it!” To create “Ryda,” McCoy and Great John just vibed together in the studio. In short, she just did what she felt.
Although “Ryda” dropped yesterday, it’s still gaining very positive traction. Producers Uncle Murda and Boy Wonda even gave the song a line of fire emojis!
All-in-all “Ryda” sees a woman who knows her worth, who refuses to settle for anything less. However, if you’re unmotivated, she advises you to keep it pushing. “Invest in yourself and stay around the right energy. Don’t hang with people who don’t inspire you,” she adds.
