Yesterday, Jay-Z decided to add Dr.Dre‘s The Chronic to his platform, Tidal. He chose to announce this via Tidal’s twitter. The caption reads, “Listen to @DrDre’s classic album ‘The Chronic’ in the highest quality, right now on @TIDAL.” Dre’s The Chronic made its debut back in 1992 and is considered the “most important album in hip hop history,” according to NME. The Chronic also helped introduce the world to artists like Snoop Dogg, Daz Dillinger, Nate Dogg, and Warren G, to name a few, while also jump-starting Death Row Records’ big bang in the music industry.
Entertainment One (eOne)’s Global President, Chris Taylor said earlier this month about the release of The Chronic: “Fans now have another reason to celebrate on what has become a national holiday, celebrating all things cannabis-related—where legally allowed and in moderation of course,” before adding “Working with the Death Row catalog is like working with the legendary recordings of Elvis, Chuck Berry, and the Beatles. These historical artifacts should be heard by all music lovers, and we are so happy Dr. Dre has opened this door so that everyone can experience the brilliance of this seminal work.”
Aside from the tweet, Tidal posted music videos that accompanied The Chronic‘s original rollout to their digital content.
