Houston hotties stand up!
Beyonce joins Megan Thee Stallion for a rare (emphasis on the rare) feature of her hit single that has taken the internet by storm, “Savage.” She turns up the heat even more with her fun flow, and spicy bars! Proceeds from the track will benefit their shared hometown of Houston through the organization Bread of Life.
The collaboration from Queen Bey comes after Megan signed to Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation for management amid a disagreement with her current label 1501 Entertainment about the release of her recent EP Suga. Now, as Thee Stallion has joined the Roc family, Yoncé shares four whole verses on her sassy take on what it means to be a savage.
For the Houston rapper, this is much more than a simple remix, it is a sign of her arrival on the Hip Hop scene, the longevity her career is promised to have, and her overall influence upon the culture. Despite Suga being a major success, Megan’s debut album is yet to come and it is already guaranteed to be iconic.
“Queen Bey, want no smoke with me,” Bey purrs on her raspy flowed rap. She drops tons of instantly quotable one liners, mentioning things like OnlyFans, jumping into her jeans, and “demon time.”
Fully matching Megan’s “Hot Girl” energy on the original version, the song remains true to it’s self-empowerment, and sexually liberated nature. “Talkin’ to myself in the mirror like/’Bitch you my boo,’” the Grammy winner sings. The song was first released as a Tidal Exclusive but premiered on YouTube Thursday afternoon (thank goodness!) with an animated visual featuring a horse and a “Welcome to Houston” sign.
This is truly the duet that we all prayed and hoped for. With Beyoncé offering up multiple verses with her angelic vocal runs, smooth harmonies that uplift the track, along with with Megan’s rework of her former lyrics, the final product is a major bop. Hopefully, the superstars will gift us with an equally steamy music video when business returns to normal.
