Johnny Depp and his production team are in the mist of creating a musical based on Michael Jacksons iconic white glove. For such a massively appreciated legend, using just an accessory to run the plot is interesting-but it gets deeper. The musical makes MJs white glove an alien from outer space that sucks the blood of virgin boys. Controversial and….concerning if you’re intrigued. Keep reading!
Leave it to Johnny Depp and team Infinitum Nihil to think outside the box. Wondering what and how inspiration sparked? Here’s the back story. Apparently, the musicals writer, Julien Nitzberg was hired to contribute to a Michael Jackson biopic for a TV network. When it came time to include Michaels child sexual abuse accusations, Nitzberg brought a very creative look to the topic. Passing up a check after the idea was rejected.
“I said, how’s this? Everything MJ has been accused of has actually been caused by his glove, which is actually an alien from outer space [and] feeds on virgin boy blood. They laughed and said, can you do the normal version?… It was morally kind of repugnant to me to do … I turned down a really big paycheck.”
The plot twist wasn’t fancying enough to find funding- until it reached Johnny Depp almost fatefully. Julien Nitzberg had been linked with Infinitum Nihil for a separate project. After giving ear to “For the Love of a Glove: An Unauthorized Musical Fable About Michael Jackson, as told by his Glove.” the team didn’t think the idea was so criminal. Cha Ching! The musical is now being funded.
Julien Nitzberg has given word that the musical will star both actors and life-sized puppets. We’ll see the King of Pop, the rest of the Jackson 5, Corey Feldman and Michael Jacksons pet chimpanzee Bubbles.
“For the Love of a Glove” premieres in Los Angeles on January 25, 2020.
If all fails, lesson here is: Trust Your Ideas- no matter how bazaar. Somebody (like Johnny Depp) will believe in you!
