The 2025 American Music Awards took place at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, with a night full of performances, fan-voted wins, and heartfelt tributes. Jennifer Lopez kicked off the show by performing 23 hit songs within six minutes. She reminded the audience “This is your night,” noting that this year brought in an impressive amount of fan votes. Billie Eilish took home the most awards (7), including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. She couldn’t attend due to her world tour. Beyoncé made history by winning Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Country Album, marking her first win in the country category.
SZA took home Favorite R&B Song and Favorite Female R&B Artist. Eminem won Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Hip-Hop Album, despite not being there in person.
Other winners included Becky G for Favorite Female Latin Artist, Gracie Abrams for Best New Artist, Post Malone for Favorite Male Country Artist & Favorite Country Song, Doechii for Social Song of the Year, Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars for Favorite Music Video & Collaboration of the Year, Bruno Mars for Favorite Male Pop Artist, and Lady Gaga for Favorite Dance/Electronic Artist.
Other highlights of the night included Janet Jackson receiving the Icon Award and performing a mix of her classic hits. In her speech, she humbly said she never aimed for fame, just a life filled with music and dance.
Meanwhile, Rod Stewart was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and performed “Forever Young.” He said he started singing simply out of love for music, not to chase fame or money.
The show featured live performances from artists like Benson Boone, Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton, Lainey Wilson, Gloria Estefan, and more. Presenters included Ciara, Tiffany Haddish, Alix Earle, Kai Cenat, and Wayne Brady.
Kendrick Lamar received the most nominations with 10, followed by Post Malone with 8, and Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey with 7 each.
The ceremony also paid homage to Memorial Day, with several performers and winners honoring veterans and military members during the show. The AMAs are entirely fan-voted and were created by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by Penske Media, the parent company of The Hollywood Reporter.
