Over the past few years, Hollywood has experienced a number of hurdles to say the least. From the #MeToo movement which embroiled some of the industry’s biggest names in controversy to COVID-19 which upended film and television productions for quite some time, things haven’t been the prettiest in tinsel town. While things have certainly begun to improve though some projects are still facing challenges. The latest project to face challenges is Aziz Ansari’s directorial-debut Being Mortal, which saw production suspended this week amidst complaints of on-set misconduct.
Being Mortal was reportedly halfway through production per reports at the end of last month, however it appears things have been brought to a halt. The cast & crew of Being Mortal received a notice this week that production would be halted following a complaint last week that is currently being investigated by Disney and Searchlight. The statement read: “Late last week, we were made aware of a complaint, and we immediately looked into it. After reviewing the circumstances, it has been decided that production cannot continue at this time.” Details about the complaint remain unclear at this time, however some rumors have surfaced that Bill Murray has been accused of inappropriate behavior which led to production being halted. Being Mortal was originally expected to premiere in theaters in 2023 however that may now be delayed following this week’s events.
