Beetlejuice Beetlejuice stars Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton, Jenna Ortega and Catherine O’Hara, to name a few, joined director Tim Burton at the 81st edition of the Venise Film Festival in Venice, Italy. Amid the event, the upcoming horror film made its world premiere on the Lido. Moments before the premiere, Burton explained why he chose to create Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The new film is a predecessor to the classic 1988 Tim Burton movie Beetlejuice.
“I’m not out to do a big sequel for money,” Burton told ABC News, with his cast alongside him. “I wanted to make this for very personal reasons.” Additionally, he revealed that creating Beetlejuice Beetlejuice made him fall in love with filming again.
“I just realized if I’m going to do anything again, I just wanted to do it from my heart. Something that I wanted to do. “It’s a bit like Lydia’s character,” Burton continued. “Sometimes, your life takes a little bit of a turn; you go down a different path. I lost myself a little bit.”
In Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the Deetz family returns to their haunted home in Winter River after a family tragedy. Lydia’s rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, accidentally opens a portal to the Afterlife, setting the room for Beetlejuice’s return. Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara will reprise their respective roles. They’ll join new cast members Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, Burt Gorman, and Justin Theroux.
