Prime Video’s television series Blade Runner 2099, which stars The Brother’s Sun actress Michelle Yeoh, is set to start filming next month and fans are excited for the sequel of 2017’s Blade Runner 2049, which is the original sequel of 1982’s Blade Runner. The first movie is known as one of the greatest science fiction films ever made, despite mixed reviews about the original not connecting with audiences and critics.
In Blade Runner 2049, Ryan Gosling who plays the main protagonist aims to track down Deckard and solve a mystery that will cause conflict between humans and androids. Critics proclaimed Blade Runner 2049 as one of the best movie sequels ever created in comparison to the original film. In response to critics and audiences praising the film, it still lost over $50 million.
After the director and final cut of the movies released, the critics started to enjoy the science fiction film after all. The previous film is based on a retired detective who is sent to track down life-like androids that are used for hard labor beyond Earth.
There have been many sequels after the original but most didn’t return to the box office. However, there might be major changes compared to previous projects.
