Bobby Shmurda is being released from prison sometime tomorrow (February 23). TMZ brings word that the “Hot N*gga” rapper looks forward to spending time with his family and getting back into the studio. He’s been incarcerated since 2014.
The tabloid outlet also had a one-on-one with Shmurda’s mother, Leslie Pollard, who said she’s counting down the hours until her son’s release. His mother also confirmed that the things Bobby Shmurda requested will go into full effect.
REVOLT reports that “Shmurda’s conditional release date was bumped up to February 23, which is ten months ahead of his sentence’s end. After being denied parole by a judge, the Time Allowance Committee overturned the decision and granted Shmurda a conditional release due to his good behavior and participation in programs while behind bars.”
In 2014, Bobby Shmurda was arrested for gang conspiracy, gun and drug charges. Two years later, he pled guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession and was sentenced to seven years in prison. During his time in jail, he was also accused of smuggling a “sharp metal object” into Rikers Island.
Because of the conditional release, Bobby Shmurda will remain on parole until 2026.
“I am counting down just wishing we could run straight to February right quick,” Bobby Shmurda’s mom wrote on Instagram last month. “I can’t wait to hug my child… It ha[s] been almost a year; anxiety is getting the best of me.”
