Steven Spielberg has called on Bradley Cooper to lead his upcoming movie, Bullitt. Cooper will be producing Bullitt as well.
According to Variety, the actor will play Frank Bullitt. Steve McQueen played this same role in the 1968 film thriller, Bullitt. Frank is described as a police officer in San Fransico who goes to lengths to protect a police witness in an investigation involving the mob. After their plan goes sideways, the two are under attack.
There are no details about the storyline. However, Variety hints that Bullitt will “tell a new story” about the character.
The 1968 version of Bullitt stands out for its car chase scene in San Francisco’s streets. In 2007, the Library of Congress selected the film for preservation in the United States National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
