Musicians like Cardi B, Bobby Shmurda, and Noname have come together to show their support toward the natives of Haiti. On Friday, four police officers and other citizens were injured during an anti-gang protest. The rally was held in the neighborhood of Village de Dieu, a place known for high gang activity. Recently, the area caught heat for harboring kidnapping victims and abusing them. Video of the botched operation surfaced online, including footage of the killers dragging and beating two officers’ bodies. Others have claimed that the gunfire from the police officers’ murders was heard throughout Port-Au-Prince.
In turn, this has pushed artists to vocalize their support for Haiti. The artists shared their sincerity via Twitter.
Karen Civil also shared material that further explained this unfortunate situation, writing,
“The current devastation happening in Haiti is not only unjust but inhumane. For centuries my people have been knocked down and persecuted unlawfully, and it stops now. We cannot stand by and allow this to happen to yet another black nation. For once, we must #FreeHaiti.”
The people of Haiti ultimately want the current president Jovenel Moise to resign, following this incident. These protests have been going on for weeks.
We hope that Haiti can soon break free from the evil happening at this time.
