We hope you’re feeling nostalgic because if so, you’ll be excited to hear that Clueless is making its way to television…. kind of. This iconic 1995 teen flick about a rich teenage girl who is navigating high school by trying to finesse better grades, giving advice, and forming relationships with her many love interests, is getting a makeover of its own. Main character Cher is able to do all of this with the assistance of her best friend, Dionne, who the spin off will focus on.
Dionne Davenport, played by Stacey Dash, will be transitioning into the role of main character. The genre is also making a transition as it will be moving away from the strictly light-hearted, comedy filled approach to the teen cult-classic and instead be presented as a mystery series with a comedic presence that chronicles Dionne’s life after Cher has gone missing. Filling in Cher’s designer shoes as the it-girl at their school, Dionne will be seen having to navigate the pressures of this responsibility all on her own.
The show is announced 25 years following the original movie and is sure to pay tribute to the story fans have continued to love for all these years while bringing new and excited, and maybe even thrilling, twists. While the exact details have yet to be provided, we are excited to see where the next chapter takes this story line and what will ultimately come of Cher through Dionne’s experiences.
