During the 93rd Annual Oscar awards, Hulu gave us a first look at its upcoming miniseries, Nine Perfect Strangers. The short thirty second clip was just enough to send chills through your body. During the clip, main character, Marsha, played by Nicole Kidman can be heard saying, “You want to get well? You want to heal? Surrender yourself to me.” The film score that plays in the background of the teaser is the perfect match to leave viewers creeped out and suspenseful. The clip also features quick glimpses of other cast members who can be seen looking distraught.
The series is based on bestselling novel, published in 2018 by Liane Moritary. The movie follows nine strangers who come together for ten days for a health-and-wellness retreat. Based on the teaser, the retreat seems like it will do anything but lead the cast on the road to wellness. The full cast includes Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Regina Hall, Manny Jacinto, Tiffany Boone, Luke Evans, Melvin Gregg, Grace Van Patten, Asher Keddie, Samara Weaving and Bobby Cannavale. I’m sure viewers are curious as to how this plot will come together making them the “perfect” strangers. Although the exact release date has not been announced, the series is set to be released in 2021.
Hulu describes the upcoming series as,
Based on the bestselling novel by Liane Moriarty, Nine Perfect Strangers takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation as nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living. Watching over them during this ten-day retreat is the resort’s director Masha (played by Nicole Kidman), a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine “perfect” strangers have no idea what is about to hit them. Melissa McCarthy, Bobby Cannavale, and Regina Hallis are also set to star.
