Being stuck at home is becoming increasingly difficult considering that one of the most popular activities in order to pass the time is watching television. While television is readily available in the sense that there are reruns, streaming sites, rental services, etc., for individuals looking forward to new seasons of cable television dramas, contests, and talk shows, there is little to currently watch. But fear not, the wait is finally over for one of cable television’s most beloved live contestant programs- Dancing With the Stars!
DWTS announced the professional dancer lineup for the show’s 29th season that will debut on September 14th, 2020 this on this morning’s Good Morning America broadcast. While the celebrity contestants that will each be paired with a professional dancer has yet to be released, DWTS is already giving us plenty to talk about.
The show is getting a complete operational makeover as it aims to change the official rules to adhere to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. Contestants will be required to live alone during the duration of the competition, including the three couples of married dancers. This will ensure that in the event that any of the six married individuals contract COVID-19, they will not infect their spouse and in effect eliminate two teams from the competition.
These are not the only changes. The show is diversifying its cast to include its first black female pro, Britt Stewart, and its first black female host, supermodel Tyra Banks. Banks will be the also be the first solo host for the show as both longtime host Tom Bergeron and his co-host Erin Andrews stepped away from their roles as hosts.
With so many alterations to the show, viewers can expect not only a refreshing twist to one of the longest existing contests on television, but an amazing celebrity guest cast to match the new energy the show will be sure to bring.
