Part three of the killer shark franchise Deep Blue Sea has finished production and should be hitting our screens pretty soon.
The film starring Nathaniel Buzolic, Emerson Brooks and Bren Foster amongst others, has now been handed an R rating by the MPAA, who tell us that it has “some violence, bloody images, and language.” None of which should be too surprising.
It’s been over two decades since the very first Deep Blue Sea dove into the big screen. Finally, it seems as though fish-fans don’t have too long to wait until they can get their teeth into the third movie.
For viewers unfamiliar with the original, it focus’ on a group of scientists who are working to discover a cure for Alzheimers and happen to carry out their research on a bunch of sharks. However, as bad luck would have it, the sharks end up with super-sharp minds to go alongside their super-sharp teeth and cause all sorts of havoc.
The second film had a similar theme, telling the tale of a “brilliant billionaire” who created five genetically altered bull sharks which then went to town on a bunch of scientists on an isolated research facility. Don’t you hate it when that happens? For now, we can only assume the next movie will follow a similar story-line.
Deep Blue Sea 3 plans to go straight to streaming and release July 28th 2020. If you haven’t seen the first two movies, you have just enough time during this pandemic to catch up!
