Disney made a huge splash in the on-demand streaming market when they launched their Disney+ streaming service at the end of 2019. For the first time in nearly a century since the company was founded, Disney+ provided avid fans with a platform where they could access all of their favorite Disney works, from timeless classics like Beauty and the Beast to more recent releases such as The Avengers franchise, at their convenience for a low monthly fee. As a result Disney+ has emerged as a strong competitor against the likes of Netflix and Hulu despite how much longer they have been in operation, a true testament to the power of Disney and the library of work they have amassed. That library is also constantly expanding with the creative minds at Disney hard at work to come up with their next great idea that will captivate audiences of all ages around the globe once more. The latest addition to that library pays homage to a true Disney classic with Monsters at Work set to debut on Disney+ this summer.
Released in 2001, the animated film Monsters, Inc. is a true Disney classic no matter who you ask. Taking viewers into a fictional world of monsters where hiding in children’s closets and scaring them is like a form of currency, the story of James P. Sullivan, Mike Wazowski and Boo has withstood the test of time and continues to elate young fans who are just being introduced to Disney for the first time. The prequel film Monsters University which released in 2013 was also met with positive reviews despite releasing over a decade after the original, highlighting just how timeless Disney’s catalog of classics truly is. Now they are going to revisit the Monsters universe once again with a new project set to debut on Disney+ this summer, Monsters at Work. The upcoming series will take place following the original 2001 film and will debut on Disney+ July 7th.
Disney has certainly been hard at work over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. While fans were forced to hide inside their homes for months on end, Disney remained hard at work building out their Disney+ platform. Now they have a service that can rival Netflix with exclusive content that cannot be viewed anywhere else. Monsters at Work will be another addition to that expansive library of exclusive work and Disney+ subscribers can begin counting down the days until July 7th when the series will debut on Disney+.
