Country singing sensation Dolly Parton has a hit single called “Jolene.” More recently, Miley Cyrus did a song cover of the mentioned tune during her New Year’s Eve party, but it looks like Parton would like to see another notable singer add their spin to it.
During an interview with Trevor Noah, she unveiled that she’d love to see Beyonce make a rendition to her 1974 classic. When Noah asked her the reasoning for this, Parton replied with
“I think she’s fantastic and beautiful, and I love her music.”
She continues,
“I would just love to hear ‘Jolene’ done in just a big way, kind of like how Whitney [Houston] did my ‘I Will Always Love You,’ Just someone that can take my little songs and make them like powerhouses. That would be a marvelous day in my life if she ever does do ‘Jolene.'”
The feedback from Parton’s remarks is 50/50. One side can envision Beyonce killing “Jolene,” while others believe Miley Cyrus did the song enough justice.
One Twitter user wrote, “BEYONCÉ PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU,” while another said, “Love Dolly down, but Miley did Jolene justice.”
