Back in 2013, Netflix’s Top Boy, a drama that was laid to rest and cancelled, wreaking havoc upon the many teen viewers. In 2017, Drake announced that he now owns the rights to the series and will be reviving it into Euphoria. Two years later and he’s ready for it to drop on HBO. During a London show, the Toronto rapper debuted the trailer starring Zendaya.
The series is an American adaptation of an Israeli show. It revolves around a group of high school students that are living in a world of drugs, sex, trauma and social media. They’re all trying to figure out life as they navigate through friendships and relationships.
The roster of actors and actresses include Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Algee Smith, Eric Dane, Nika King and more. Sam Levinson pushes the pen, creating a script for every episode while Drake serves as executive producer. Alongside him sits the original EP’s, Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin.
The trailer before this was released a few months ago on April 11th. Zendaya’s character speaks volumes within the first few seconds of a touching teaser.
“I promise you, if I could be a different person, I would. Not because I want it but because they do. But here’s the thing… One day, I just showed up without a map or a compass, and at some point you have to make a choice – about who you are and what you want. And therein lies the catch.”
Euphoria premieres every Sunday at 10 P.M.
