The Balkan state of Kosovo is giving pop star Dua Lipa tons of recognition for her influential stance in and out of the music industry. Given the singer’s accolades, they named her an Honorary Ambassadorship. Before performing at the Sunny Hill Festival, the “Levitating” songwriter told everyone this fantastic news. She also shared it via Instagram:
“Yesterday afternoon, I was awarded the title of Honorary Ambassador of Kosovo by our Madame President @vjosa.osmani.”
Lipa also spoke on Kosovo’s former economy, saying:
“It’s an honor and a privilege to represent my country all over the world and continue my work and efforts globally to see that we leave our mark and make a difference. The youth of Kosovo deserves the right to visa liberalization, freedom to travel, and to dream big.”
Dua’s parents are Kosovan Albanian, and because of this, she speaks about the hardships Kosovans have faced.
She previously shared a letter sent to her from Kosovo president Vjosa Osmani.
He penned, “Aside from being a world-class and a once-in-a-generation musician, you are also a role model for many girls and women across the world as a forthright and conscientious activist. But above all, what you have done for the people of Kosovo, in raising awareness of the Republic of Kosovo is unmatched and truly invaluable.”
Congrats Dua Lipa!
