This weekend, Eddie Murphy hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live and lets just say it was one for the books. Deadline states, Murphy’s collaboration with the television series pushed their streams. This was the highest-rated and most-watched episode of Saturday Night Live since May 13, 2017, with a 2.5 rating in adults 18-49. Overall, the show had 9.921 million viewers.
Saturday Night Live also had other comedians make an appearance: Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Tracy Morgan, Alec Baldwin, Larry David, Maya Rudolph, Jason Sudeikis, Fred Armisen, and Rachel Dratch. For their musical act, Saturday Night Live called on Lizzo to wow the crowd.
In accordance, Murphy revived several characters that he did once upon a time on Saturday Night Live. Murphy also did his popular Bill Cosby impersonation during his monologue.
The last episode to top the charts was back in 2017. It was hosted by Melissa McCarthy with musical guest HAIM. Saturday Night Live drew a 2.7 rating in 18-49, with 10.382 million viewers overall.
Saturday Night Live will resume in 2020. Their first episode will be hosted by Adam Driver.
