My Name is WHAT? My name is WHO? My name is YES!!! Eminem showed up at the Academy Awards Show in Los Angeles to perform 2002’s hit “Lose Yourself“!
Audience and fans at home stood floored when rapper Eminem grabbed mic at the 2020 Oscars to perform 2002’s award winning hit single ‘Lose Yourself’. What the irony for the classic MC who’s been pretty much LOST since Kamikaze (2018).
Eminem’s 2002 track “Lose Yourself” won an Oscar for Best Original Song after being featured in the film 8 Mile, but Eminem’s no show status didn’t allow for a performance as the usual nominated songs protocol goes. So his presence this time around kinda made up for the IOU.
Marshall Mathers took to Twitter to thank The Academy for having him. Modifying his “Lose Yourself” lyrics a bit for the current moment with an old video clip of Barbra Streisand presenting his award at the 2003 ceremony.
“Look, if you had another shot, another opportunity… Thanks for having me @TheAcademy. Sorry it took me 18 years to get here.”
WHO’S COMPLAINING? My name not me! Eminems performance ended with a standing ovation.
