2007’s Enchanted was an immediate success, grossing $127.8 million in the United States and Canada as well a total of $340.5 million worldwide. This quintessential fairy tale tells the story of pretty young Giselle (Amy Adams) who frolics with her woodland pals, and falls in love with the handsome Prince Edward (James Marsden). Upon entering the castle, Prince Edwards stepmother (Susan Sarandon) sends the princess-to-be to a place where there are `no happy ever afters’: New York City.
Fast-forward to modern day, the Princess and her “Prince Charming” are still together. The sequel, Disenchanted will follow this lovestruck couple on their wacky adventures through their new home in the suburbs. As their home begins to fall apart, Giselle wishes to transform their home to a perfect fairytale. This wish unfortunately backfires, and thus the story unfolds!
While Enchanted is a satirical fairytale, it completely excluded all classic Disney characters. However, Disenchanted is rumored to have Snow White and the Seven Dwarves who pay a major part in the plot.
Disenchanted doesn’t have an official release date yet, but the sequel will be directed by Hairspray’s Adam Shankman. The film is already in the midst of principal photography, and it will be released exclusively on Disney+.
