Earlier this week French Montana joined forces with Tory Lanez for his icey new track “Cold.” Set to a summer-worthy melody, and scampering beat the two rappers form a remarkable dynamic.
Previously Montana and Lanez went back and forth as part of a Quarantine Radio hit battle, and they decided to settle it by working together. It’s been reported that the battle broke an Instagram Live record by attracting more than 300,000 simultaneous viewers.
Now, the pair make history again. Thanks to a dance challenge created by Brandon “Bam” Morales a.k.a. BamTheDancer, the single is garnering millions of streams and views on the notorious TikTok app.
There is no doubt that TikTok is the next greatest tool in guaranteeing the success of new music. As we’ve observed with Megan Thee Stallions “Savage,” Drakes “Toosie Slide,” and Doja Cats “Say So,” this platform is a hub for taste making among the most vocal demographic of all time, Generation Z.
The single has garnered over half a millions views on YouTube since May 1st and is expected to double that. “Cold” is French’s second single this year, following April’s hit “That’s a Fact.” Tory Lanez has also been busy, releasing the 16 track The New Toronto 3 along with a catalogue of singles and features.
