Godzilla vs. Kong has finally arrived, giving us the monstrous battle we’ve all been waiting for. These two apex predators- who are kings in their own right- have finally crossed paths. This movie is the 4th episode in a franchise called the MonsterVerse, which kicked off with 2014’s Godzilla.
Godzilla vs. Kong is full of the action we’ve longed for, plus more. The movie starts with a very elaborate plot involving Kong waking up in his own private “home,” manufactured by government facilities. We see the ape in a completely different element as he appears to be relaxed, experienced, and aged quite a few years. He even has battle-scars he’s picked up along the way. He has developed a new friendship with a little girl Jia (Kaylee Hottle) whom he considers to be a member of his family due to their distance from the outside world.
Fast forward a few moment later on the opposite side of the world, we are brought to a completely different facility with Bernie Hayes (Brian Tyree Henry) attempting to escape an impending attack at his job by Godzilla. Before he leaves, he notices a glowing circular device which appears later in the movie. This very element sparks the fight with Kong and Godzilla who go toe-to-toe in an epic battle, involving an unlikely foe.
The film also includes Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown, Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, Shun Oguri, and many more familiar faces who all have important roles in saving the world. Some minor details will be left to the imagination, as the new Warner Bros.’ film is a must see!
Through Sunday, the Warner Bros. tentpole is expecting to generate more than $42 million in ticket sales, proving this kind-sized battle will generate king-sized revenue. Godzilla vs. Kong will indeed be added to one of the highest grossing films of the Covid era!
