Two-time Grammy Award winner H.E.R. announces Girls With Guitars, her weekly Instagram live performance and conversation series, starting tonight at 8pm ET.
H.E.R. is the latest artist to join the livestream frenzy in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As we all know, musicians are currently unable to tour or host concerts, livestreaming has become a go-to source for artists looking to release and perform their music, while engaging with fans during this time of social distancing.
However, what sets H.E.R. apart from everyone else is that she is using her platform to showcase an “all female” cast by inviting female celebrity guitarists to perform and engage in a lively conversation about music, life and feminist related topics.
If you weren’t familiar with her before, H.E.R. — a.k.a. Gabriella Wilson, whose acronym stands for Having Everything Revealed — is one of the breakthrough new artists of the past five years. Besides being wildly talented, Wilson adds perspective to many conversations as she is well versed and perfectly eloquent in a wide range of topics. She also chooses a modest approach to her style, and has openly advocated for artists who deal with anxiety. Clearly, Wilson is poised to be a major star as she has released major hits such as, “Slide,” featuring rapper Y.G, “Slow Down,” featuring Skip Marley, a Tiny Desk performance, a series of EPs which have garnered her two Grammys at the 2019 awards, and has received five nomination at this year’s awards, including Album of the Year for her recent project “I Used to Know Her.”
Tune in tonight to hear what this coming-of-age singer/songwriter has to say!
