Over the past decade or so, superhero films have taken the forefront of the entertainment industry. Films like Guardians of the Galaxy and Iron Man have permeated pop culture to a degree unlike any other film that has come before them and redefined the ethos surrounding superheroes like never before. Subsequently, it is of virtually no surprise when a new superhero-related project arises and catches the attention of moviegoers and film fanatics alike with the promise of something refreshing. This week they got exactly that when acclaimed disc jockey Howard Stern seemingly made reference to his work on the upcoming Marvel project centered around the iconic villain best known as Doctor Doom.
Stern has made a name for himself over the past few decades as the biggest loudmouth on radio, and it has worked tremendously for him. So much so that it is of virtually no surprise when his talents are requested elsewhere in Hollywood, and this week we found out that he has been lending them to none other than the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His reputation proved to be a benefit for Marvel fans this week however when Stern made comments alluding to a potential Doctor Doom film. In a discussion regarding his upcoming schedule, Stern let this slip: “They’re going over the schedule with me, and it’s gonna suck… I told you, I’m going to do Doctor Doom.” Its been common knowledge for some time now that Marvel is working on a new iteration of the Fantastic Four films but the contents of said film have remained unclear up until this point. Some have theorized Stern will be making an appearance as the iconic villain on the second season of Marvel’s What If…?, while others have theorized that he could simply be playing a supporting character in the forthcoming film. Whatever his involvement is, fans of the MCU can find solace in the fact that the creative minds at Marvel are hard at work to bring them a new project.
Marvel has a reputation unlike any other in the realm of superheroes. Even with Avengers: Endgame seemingly bringing a conclusion to the MCU’s fantastic run, they continue to churn out project after project. Fans got lucky this week with Howard Stern’s loose lips, and can continue to anticipate the forthcoming Fantastic Four and/or Doctor Doom projects in production.
