Topic of the Day
Janet Jackson will be honored with the prestigious Icon Award at the 2025 American Music Awards, marking a major milestone in her legendary career. In addition to receiving the accolade, she’s set to deliver her first televised performance since 2018, making the event a highly anticipated moment for fans.
Jackson’s Greatest Achievements
With a career spanning five decades, Jackson has left an indelible mark on the music industry. She has earned 11 American Music Awards, is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and boasts five Grammy Awards along with two Emmys. Having sold over 180 million albums worldwide, she stands among the most successful artists in history.
Notably, she is one of only four acts—alongside Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, and U2—to achieve a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 in each of four consecutive decades: the 1980s, ’90s, 2000s, and 2010s.

Queen Music Debut
Janet 2001 hit “Someone to Call My Lover,” from her All for You album, has recently found new life thanks to a viral resurgence on TikTok. The renewed popularity propelled the track back onto the Billboard charts, climbing to No. 3 on the R&B Digital Songs chart. According to Luminate, the song has also seen a staggering 1,400 percent increase in U.S. on-demand streams compared to earlier this year.
Jackson’s trailblazing influence dates back decades, notably with her breakthrough third album Control, which just marked its 39th anniversary. The record made history as the first by a female artist to produce five top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100. Her follow-up album, Rhythm Nation 1814, pushed boundaries even further, becoming the only album ever to generate seven singles that reached the top five on the Hot 100 chart—a feat unmatched to this day.
Anticipating her comeback✨
Janet is set to take the stage once again during the upcoming leg of her Las Vegas residency, Janet Jackson: Las Vegas. The residency began in December 2024, and this new set of six performances will run from May 21 to May 31 at the Resorts World Theatre, located inside Resorts World Las Vegas.

Although Janet is no stranger to receiving high honors—she was awarded the Billboard Music Awards Icon Award back in 2018. That memorable evening featured a powerful medley performance of her hits “Nasty,” “If,” and “Throb,” and included a moving speech in solidarity with the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements.
