The day that Forbes recognized Jay-Z as part of the billionaire’s club, the legendary rapper along with his firm Marcy Venture Partners, invested 1 million in Partake Foods a Gluten-free, vegan, non GMO cookie company.
“I’m not a business man , I’m a business-man!”
”Partake has the ingredients to build a mass market brand: compelling values, a great tasting product, and a tenacious and experienced operator,” Marcy Venture Partners co-founder and managing director Larry Marcus said in a press release, per Entrepreneur. “We are honored to back (Partake Foods Founder) Denise Woodard and the team and help grow their business.”
After her daughter was diagnosed with multiple food allergies, Woodard was having trouble finding snacks that would be safe to eat without having to worry about a trip to the ER. Thats when it hit her, she was going to make her daughter’s snacks on her own starting with her favorite cookies. From then, her company was born!
Partake is a New Jersey-based maker of allergen-free cookies. Woodard started the company on Kickstarter and ended up leaving her job as Director of National Sales at Coca-Cola in their Venturing & Emerging Brands division to run it full-time. She went from selling cookies out of her car to selling them at 300 stores!
