Since kicking off his career back in 1984, few actors have amassed a resume quite like that of Keanu Reeves. First appearing on television before making waves in 1989 as the star of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, catapulting the budding actor into the limelight as he attempted to make a name for himself in Hollywood. He has certainly done that, appearing in a variety of Hollywood blockbusters that makes Reeves’ resume one of the most impressive in tinseltown and continuing to be one of the hardest working men in the entertainment industry. His latest project stands to be a prime example of that, with Reeves rumored to be the star of Hulu’s latest project and TV adaptation of Devil in the White City.
Based upon a non-fiction book of the same name written by Erik Larson in 2003, Devil in the White City is set in the 1890’s and tells the stories of architect Daniel Burnham and serial killer H. H. Holmes. Burnham was the architect of the 1893 World Fair and Holmes was a prolific serial killer who lived during the same time period, making him possibly the first documented serial killer in U.S. history during a time that has been considered prosperous for the country. Devil in the White City tells both men’s stories however interweaves them in a unique and curious way that encapsulates the United States in the 19th century incredibly well; so well that Leonardo DiCaprio bought the rights to the project in 2010 before his efforts would fizzle out and Devil in the White City would seemingly lose its chance at the big screen. It looks like Hulu has swooped in to save the project however with plans of a TV adaptation of the novel in the works over at the streaming platform and rumors already circulating that Keanu Reeves is set to star in the intriguing new project. Reeves is notorious for playing some outlandish roles that have come to shape his career and legacy however this would mark his first starring role on a television series, which could be indicative of something incredibly special; we will just have to wait and see as more details emerge about Hulu’s adaptation of Devil in the White City in the coming months.
Reeves has certainly had a successful few years with the inception of the John Wick franchise and the most recent reboot of The Matrix franchise.
