Love & Hip Hop: New York is known for its chaotic, drama filled antics where peace comes rare and typically unheard-of. But on this past weeks episode named “Spirituali-Tea” there seemed to be a new-found light on VH1’s addicting reality show. One of LHHNY’s favorite veterans Somaya Reece, who started in an attic when the show first aired to hitting the Forbes list with her booming business “Get Slim Detox Tea”, has returned leaving any negative vibes in the past and it’s safe to say it’s working in her favor.
Long time rivals Yandy Smith and Kimbella Vanderhee took their arguments to the next level throwing drinks and leaping towards each other during their good friend Jonathan Fernandez‘s event. Somaya being in attendance knew she had to try to get these two to communicate and move passed the drama. She coordinates a spa-day for massages and genuine spiritual healing.
Somaya ends up inviting Jonathan, Yandy, and Kimbella brings a surprise guest, Chrissy Lampkin, to a therapeutic spirituality tea event where the road to healing begins..Or does it? While sipping Somaya’s new add-on product “Calming Tea” to her tea resume, Yandy leaves before things got heated between her and Kimbella, but ironically in a “calm” way to not ruin the event for the rest of the group. When does calm ever happen? The tea must be magical because we all know how events typically end in the LHHNY world. I have never seen this on the show, where rivals are brought together successfully without fighting and Somaya definitely deserves recognition for that!
The real star in this episode is Somaya’s business partner Kay Thoth, who has recently joined ventures creating “Calming Tea” really proving that the product does exactly what it says it does—calm. Kay along with her identical twin sister, Mary Love, were born in New Jersey of Italian and Nigerian decent. Kay discovered she had a psychic gift at the early age of 6 and knew she was different after experiencing paranormal activity in the siblings childhood home. Fast forward to her teenage years after moving from their family dwelling, the energy, and spirits always followed her to this day. Hearing and seeing spirits became the norm for Kay. Self taught and confident, she mastered her gift eventually reading for friends and family.
Kay studied, practiced, and went in depth breaking down number schemes and dream meanings to later on help those seeking answers. Today, she has broke-down and explained numerous celebrity questions and have helped heal them on their spiritual journey. Now thats some tea—Cheers!
